Off Beat Bikes Celebrates Lily and Isla Cants Success at Race the Worlds

We are over the moon to share some amazing news with you: our very own supported rider Lily Cant placed 1st in both the Downhill and Cross-country categories for the Cycling World Championships 2023! Her sister and supported rider Isla Cant achieved an incredible 4th place in the Cross-country category, showing the strength of the Fort William sisters!

Race the Worlds is a unique opportunity for young cyclists to compete at the same venues as the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland. The event is open to riders aged 11 to 16, and features four disciplines: Road, Track, Mountain Bike and BMX. It is a chance for young talents to showcase their skills and passion for cycling on a global stage.

Lily and Isla have been riding since they were kids and joined the Off Beat Bikes Supported Riders this year. They have always been dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic about cycling, and we are so proud of their achievements. They have trained hard for this event, and their results speak for themselves.

Lily dominated both the Downhill and Cross-country races, showing her versatility and talent in different terrains. She completed the Downhill course in 3:12.56, beating the second-place rider by more than 10 seconds. She also finished the Cross-country race in 1:24:37, with a comfortable lead of over 2 minutes. She was the only rider to win two gold medals at Race the Worlds.

Isla also impressed us with her performance in the Downhill where she achieved 2nd place and also in the Cross-country race, where she finished in 4th place with a time of 1:28:54. She was only a few seconds behind the bronze medalist, and showed great endurance and speed throughout the course. 

We couldn’t be more proud of Lily and Isla. They are an inspiration to us all and we are so happy to have them amongst our incredible supported riders. They have shown that with passion, determination and hard work, anything is possible. Congratulations, Lily and Isla! You are amazing!
