FULL-DAY BIKE RIDES FROM THE SHOP

THE GAIRLOCHY LOOP

ROUTE GRADE: Moderate with optional extras 30 miles (46 kms). Recommended bike: MTB or E-bike.Strava OBB to Gairlochy 30miles

Head out along the Great Glen Way with great views of the North Face of Ben Nevis. Pass Neptune’s Staircase to Gairlochy and take in the scenery at the wee lighthouse, which is a favourite wild swimming spot. Then head over to the Commando Memorial and a coffee stop at Spean Bridge. Return via forest trails through Leanachan Forest to Nevis Range. Stop here for a coffee and the option to take in a lap or two on the single track trails before heading back into town.

NEVIS RANGE CYCLE TRAILS

ROUTE GRADE: Difficult 15 miles for a round route to Nevis Range and the trails and back to Fort William. Recommended bike: MTB or E-bike.Strava OBB to Nevis Range 15miles

Reach Nevis Range by heading out along the start of the Great Glen Way to the Puggy Line. This is a great off road route to join the network of built trails at the world famous Nevis Range, home of the UCI Downhill World Cup. Enjoy a few of the Witches Trails then refuel at the cafe before heading back to town.

SHORTER BIKE RIDES FROM THE SHOP

COFFEE, CANAL AND PUMP TRACK

ROUTE GRADE: Easy 10 miles (15 km). Recommended bike: MTB, E-bike.

Strava OBB Castle and Canal Tour 15miles

A leisurely flat cycle along The Great Glen Way to The Caledonian Canal where you can enjoy a Cake and Coffee or a lunch stop at the Moorings Hotel. En route stop to admire Old Inverlochy Castle. Return via the NEW Fort William Pump Track then on past closely to the Highland Soap Company before rejoining the Great Glen Way back to Fort William.

EXPLORE GLEN NEVIS & STEALL FALLS

ROUTE GRADE: Easy 20 miles (24km). Recommended bike: MTB, E-bike.

Strava OBB Glen Nevis and Steall Falls Tour 15miles

Enjoy an easy ride close to town along forest tracks and single track road to the Lower Falls with beautiful views. Add in the option of walking to Steall Falls at the head of the glen for stunning scenery before heading back to town.

COW HILL CIRCUIT

ROUTE GRADE: Moderate 6-10 miles (10-16 km). Recommended bike: MTB, E-bike.

Enjoy a blast around the Cow Hill trails. Enjoy great views from the top and some sweet single track on the descent.

MULTI DAY RIDES FROM THE SHOP

THE GREAT GLEN WAY CYCLE ROUTE

ROUTE GRADE: Moderate. 67 miles (108 km). Recommended bike: MTB, Tourer or E-bike.

Take two or three days to pedal this iconic route from Fort William to Inverness. This is a great way to see the Highlands with a spot of Nessie hunting on the way. Join Sustrans Route 78 and cycle from our back door. This section from Fort William starts in the shadow of Ben Nevis, then heads through the Great Glen on the Caledonian Canal towpath, on cycle paths and on forest roads to Fort Augustus. From Fort Augustus stay on the north side of Loch Ness for the official hilly route with fantastic views from high above Loch Ness. The alternative takes quiet roads along the east of Loch Ness to end in the Highland capital of Inverness.

 For a great multi day ride check out the route from Fort William to Inverness and return. This means circumnavigating Loch Ness. It is a brilliant route. Check this out on Strava – see here

 ROUTE GRADE: Moderate. 100 miles (160 km). Recommended bike: Road, Gravel, Tourer or E-bike

This great route covers scenic, quiet roads exploring the beautiful and varied area of Moidart to the West of Fort William.

Strava Off Beat Bikes West highland 150THE WEST HIGHLAND 150

ROUTE GRADE: Moderate. 150 miles (240 km). Recommended bike: Road, Gravel, Tourer or E-bike.

Take a trip to Oban then return via the Island of Mull and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. A stunningly scenic tour on quiet roads. There is plenty of accommodation along the way.

ROAD BIKE ROUTES FROM THE SHOP

THE GAIRLOCHY ROAD BIKE LOOP 26 miles (42 km)

Our favourite afternoon ride is a 26 mile loop from Fort William to Gairlochy, over to Spean Bridge then returning to Fort William via the back road Brackletter. There’s great coffee and a friendly welcome at the Bridge Cafe at Spean Bridge.

THE GAIRLOCHY  ROAD BIKE LOOP WITH ROYBRIDGE EXTENSION 38 miles (61 km)

The Gairlochy Loop can be extended by continuing on to Roy Bridge, heading up Glen Roy to the viewpoint then returning to Fort William via the back road Brackletter making almost 40 miles.

THE KINGAIRLOCH ROAD BIKE LOOP 65 miles (104 km)

This scenic route is accessed from Fort William by the Treslaig Ferry. Take the ferry to join Sustrans Route 78 to Corran before heading on to Strontian where there’s a lovely tea shop. From Strontian, return for a couple of miles to take the Lochaline Road. Head up the hill for 3 miles and on to the Kingairloch signpost. Turn in, follow the road to the coast, on to Corran and then return to Treslaig for the ferry.
