At Off Beat Bikes, we take immense pride in supporting talented athletes. This year we are proud to sponsor Sam Lawton as our athlete for the 2024 season.
This year is not only Sam’s first full season racing but his first time racing DH. Don’t misunderstand, Sam’s is no stranger to the world of competitive cycling. His previous races include podium finishes in both Cross Country and Enduro events. Notably placing 2nd place in the 2022 Nevis Range MacAvalanche.
I asked Sam why he decided to race DH this year. Simply, he wanted to try something new. Sam loves riding bikes whenever he can. During summer, he likes nothing more than DH laps at the weekend. “I have a DH bike and racing seems like fun”. He’s too modest to say, but he is bloody good on the DH bike too.
Sam’s not only a great rider but a senior mechanic in our bike shop. He’s spent years learning all there is to know about bike mechanics and is now passing his knowledge on to the new staff. His enthusiasm for bikes is contagious and his attention to detail is second to none. If you’re ever at a pub quiz about bike part codes, he’s your man!
Sam’s been training hard and is ready to take on the 2024 season. He’ll be competing in the Senior open category and we are so stoked to have him racing for us. Join us and cheer Sam on this season!
