Here’s a suggested packing list for a warm-weather biking holiday:

Essential Bikepacking Gear

  • Waterproof Jacket and Trousers.
  • Duvet Jacket: If you’re camping or heading into remote areas, a lightweight insulated jacket could be a lifesaver on cooler nights.
  • Helmet.
  • Socks x 2. Quick-drying, comfortable, and essential for long days.
  • Cycle Shorts: Padded shorts make long days in the saddle infinitely more comfortable.
  • Tee Shirt.
  • Long Sleeve Top: Layer up for variable weather.
  • Gilet: Lightweight insulation for chilly mornings.
  • Arm Warmers: A compact option to deal with temperature swings without carrying bulky clothing.
  • Bike Lock.
  • Bike Shoes: Flats or SPD Pedals, whichever you prefer!

  • A good visible plan of your route ie GPX, paper map, whatever you prefer but something so you know where you are headed!
  • Some good snacks eg Flapjacks, Sandwiches, Peanuts.
  • Waterbottle x 2.

Personal Items

  • Toothpaste and Brush.
  • Suntan Lotion.
  • Small Towel: Lightweight and quick-drying for spontaneous swims.
  • Elastic Bands: Handy for everything from bundling cables to securing snacks.

Bike Tools and Maintenance

  • Multi-Tool: Essential for quick trail-side fixes. Make sure there is a chain-plitter on there (and know how to use it!)
  • Spare chain pin for your own chain. Are you 9speed, 10speed, 11speed or 12speed? MAke sure you have the right spare! 
  • Spare Tube and Puncture Kit.
  • Chain Lube: Keep your drivetrain running smoothly.
  • Zip ties x 6.
  • Tyre Boot. Just in case you split your tyre on the middle of nowhere!

Camping Kit

  • Tent.
  • Sleeping Bag.
  • Sleeping Mat.
  • Stove and Lighter.
  • Gas. Approx 100g per day should be enough for breakfast hot drinks and dinner!
  • Plate and Cutlery.
  • Midge Repellant.
