Important Safety Notice: Shimano 11-Speed Hollowtech Road Cranksets Inspection Program
Shimano has discovered a potential defect in some of their 11-speed Hollowtech road cranksets, which are part of the drivetrain that transfers power from the pedals to the wheels. The defect may cause the non-drive side crank arm to loosen and fall off.
The affected products are DURA-ACE and ULTEGRA cranksets with the following model numbers: ULTEGRA FC-6800, FC-R8000 and DURA-ACE FC-9000, FC-R9100 and FC-R9100-P. The model numbers are stamped on the inside of the crank arm on the bottom. You can see an example of how to locate the model number in the image below (yellow box).

If the model number on your crank arm matches one of the above model numbers, you need to check the production code (blue box), which is also stamped on the inside of the crank arm at the bottom. The affected models were produced before July 2019 and have a two-letter production code that starts with K, L, M, N, O, P, Q or R. You can see an example of how to locate the production code in the image above.
If the production code on your crank arm matches one of the affected codes, bring your bike to the Off Beat Bikes workshop! We’ll inspect the crankset for signs of bond loosening or delamination. If there are signs of bond loosening or delamination we’ll sort out the free replacement of your new Shimano crankset.
If you are unsure how to check the model number or the production code, or if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us or bring your bike to our shop. We will help you with the inspection and replacement process, and ensure that your bike is safe and ready to ride.
