Hire Terms and Conditions

These Terms apply to all bicycle and equipment hire from Off Beat Bikes. By hiring from us, you agree to the following:

1. Bookings

  • We will make every reasonable effort to honour all bookings.

  • We reserve the right to refuse hire at our discretion.

  • Hire bikes are for use within the UK only.

  • Use of hire bikes for uplift services (including gondola uplift) is not permitted.

2. Your Responsibility

  • Cycling is a potentially dangerous activity and is undertaken at your own risk.

  • You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of others.

  • You must follow:

    • The Highway Code on roads

    • Local rules and marked trails when off-road

  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who accepts responsibility.

3. Safety

  • Helmets are provided free of charge and strongly recommended.

  • You should ensure you are fit and able to ride before hiring.

4. Hire Equipment

  • All bikes and equipment remain the property of Off Beat Bikes.

  • You must not sell, lend, or tamper with the equipment.

  • You are responsible for the bike from collection until return.

  • You must:

    • Keep the bike secure at all times

    • Not leave it unattended in public places

5. Damage, Loss & Theft

  • You are responsible for any loss, theft, or damage (excluding fair wear and tear).

  • The cost of repair or replacement (up to full RRP) may be charged.

  • You agree that we may charge your payment method for these costs where necessary.

6. E-bike Use

  • E-bikes must be used correctly and in line with manufacturer guidance.

  • Do not tamper with electrical components or batteries.

  • You are responsible for any damage caused through misuse.

7. Prohibited Use

Bikes must not be used for:

  • Racing or competitions

  • Jumping, stunts, or misuse

  • Any unlawful activity

Misuse may result in additional charges and/or termination of hire without refund.

8. Returns

  • Bikes must be returned on time and to the agreed location.

  • Late returns may be charged.

  • No refunds are given for early returns.

9. Cancellations

  • More than 7 days notice: full refund (minus £15 admin fee)

  • 7 days to 72 hours: 50% refund

  • Less than 72 hours: no refund

  • No-shows: no refund

We may cancel bookings if necessary—if we do, you will receive a full refund.

10. Identification

  • Valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) is required.

  • ID must match the payment method used.

11. Liability

  • Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

  • Otherwise, we are not liable for loss, damage, or injury arising from use of hire equipment.

12. Data Protection

  • Your personal data will be handled in accordance with UK data protection laws.

  • We do not sell your data to third parties.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland.
