2009/2010 Spean Bridge Round 6
OFF BEAT BIKES, West Highland Wheelers Winter League Round 6 – Spean Bridge
After the cancellation of last weeks race at Glenachulish, we were crossing our
fingers that this race would run, but it was touch and go with the snow level yet
again. The course was shortened to a 4 lap race, a hill or two, a slippery section up
high on the forestry road and a few sweet sections of single track back to the start
brought smiles to the faces of 25 riders.
Joe Barnes took 1st comfortably with Gavin Shirley hot on his heels, and 3rd was
young Ben Miller who was also 1st Junior; (and nursing a sprained ankle after landing
awkwardly on a jump!) He was visibly limping after the race, but clearly riding a bike
was easier. Colleen Foggo had one of her best results this year in 12th position.
