OFF BEAT BIKES / WEST HIGHLAND WHEELERS WINTER LEAGUE ROUND 4 – LEANACHAN
A good turnout for the fourth round of the West Highland Wheelers Winter League, sponsored by Off Beat Bikes. True to form, a moderate fresh fall of snow overnight made for an interesting ride. The course was a delight for those who liked singletrack climbs and descents, showing yet again the multitude of routes within Leanachan Forest. Ben Thompson took line honours from the ever-improving Ben Miller. The battle of the 2 Gavin’s saw Gavin Shirley come home in third. Hannah Barnes was the first lady with Colleen and Nix taking the next two places. Kim Cameron pipped Donnie Meldrum to the line by just 4 seconds in another close-fought tussle. Most spectacular event of the day was Gavin Linfield’s pretzled front wheel, this behaviour now developing into something of a nasty routine. Thanks to Jesse Wigman from Off Beat Bikes for single-handedly marking an excellent course, doing registration, the timing and the course breakdown.
