WINTER LEAGUE ROUND 2 – LOCHALINE 06/12/09
West Highland Wheeler’s Winter League, sponsored by Off Beat Bikes, returned to Lochaline for Jake’s usual testing circuit. In fact the route was relatively kind at 12.7 miles in length although the wind on the return leg proved to be a challenge for all. Gavin Shirley got away on the first climb and came in first ahead of Gavin Maclean and Ben Miller. Gavin Linfield had a particularly good race to come in 7th.
Marian Austin took the ladies event after a close-run tussle with Marie Meldrum. A few familiar faces returned from their summer training camps, joined by a few welcome newcomers. Jean’s cafe provided the fine food and venue for a post-event inquest. Thanks to Jake, Isabel, Colleen, Anita and all those who helped. Xmas handicap is next, followed by round 3 of the Winter League at Nevis Range.
