2009 Wolftrax Round 5
West Highland Wheelers travelled to Laggan’s Wolftrax for the next round of the Winter League. Ice and snow were prevalent in the days prior to the race but the course actually rode surprisingly well. Gavin Shirley was first, 3 minutes ahead of a well-placed Hendry McNicol. Mike Thouless also did well to finish third with Roddy Wells proving that all his cross-training on the ski slopes is bearing fruit. KT Tuer was first lady home, despite her brakes freezing solid. John Lawrie rode off with his son, watched him snap his chain early on and magnanimously handed Michael his bike to complete the course. John was last seen heading for the cafe with a broad grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Next race is at Glenachulish on 15th Feb.
