X on the Croft
The third ‘Cross on the croft’ mountain bike event took place on Friday the 5th of January. 28 riders braved a chilly but moonlit night to race for an hour round a half mile course set out in a Banavie croft which included an arduous climb and muddy conditions.
From the start a battle began for the front spot between Donald Paterson, Mike Bossard and Tom Smith with Mike crossing the line first despite going over the bars on his final lap.
Biff Gow was the first lady rider completing 7 laps followed by Colleen Foggo who also did 7 laps. Next was Lindsay Shaw with 6 laps.
Keir Coupland won the junior race with Conner Skinner next followed by Fergus Howe. All the younger riders did exceptionally well with Ruairidh Cant completing a storming 3 laps despite lighting problems.
