Duror round 2 04/12/06
Truly epic conditions greeted the Wheelers riders as they arrived in Glen Duror for the second round of the Offbeat Bikes sponsored Winter League. Floods, torrential showers, howling gales and fallen trees did not deter the riders from enjoying a fast, flowing course.
First home was an impressive Graham Neagle in a time of 44:05. John Shirley seemed oblivious to the conditions, lack of sleep and no breakfast to come in second. Gregor Muir got the better of Graham Brooks to finish third whereas Jamie Maxwell continued his good start to the Series by finishing fifth.
KT Tuer took line honours for the ladies and also kept her overall Top 10 record intact. Colleen Foggo and Marian Austin were second and third. Several riders were perplexed by the variable nature of course-marking but the smiles at the finish line told the story. Award for the day went to Mike Thouless and Angus McSween who disappeared into the murk for a second lap!
Next event is the Xmas handicap at 13:30 on the 17th Dec in Glen Nevis followed by Round 3 of the League at Fearnoch on the 27th Dec.
